NY GOP Chief Calls Hochul ‘Cuomo 2.0’ with ‘Skirt & Heels’

By: Serach Nissim

New York Republican Party Chief Nick Langworthy has been talking behind Gov. Kathy Hochul’s back, and it’s not flattering.

As reported by the NY Post, Langworthy trash talked Gov. Hochul, saying she is no different from her predecessor, disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Langworthy spoke at the GOP nominating convention on Long Island, where he told the crowd that public safety concerns will probably help Republicans gain steam against the Democrats’ daunting fundraising success and NY voter registration advantages. During his talk, he poked fun at the governor.  “Kathy Hochul is Andrew Cuomo 2.0,” Langworthy said in the Garden City ballroom. “Meet the new boss, she’s exactly the same as the old boss,” he said. “Except she wears a skirt and heels.”

“She willfully turned a blind eye to corruption, the abuse of people, the abuse of power and harmful, terrible policies that have chased our people to better places,” Langworthy added.  “Kathy Hochul traveled around the state as the cheerleader in chief for Andrew Cuomo’s administration and not much has changed. His record is her record.”

As per the Post, Hochul has been criticized by some activists and women’s rights groups for supporting Cuomo until after NY Attorney General Letitia James released her bombshell report, which indicted him in multiple cases of sexual harassment, some brought forth by his staffers.  Hochul has repeatedly defended herself saying she was previously unaware of harassment or staff mistreatment allegations against Cuomo. Hochul even revealed the embarrassing tale of how the former governor was excluding her from his inner circle, and tried twice to replace her as his running mate before the scandal erupted.  Once she took office, Hochul did her best to separate her image from his, condemning him and minting a new law against harassment in positions of power.

A rep for Hochul’s campaign declined to comment on Langworthy’s remarks.  Several female Democratic lawmakers, however, spoke up to condemn Langworthy’s gendered comments. “Langworthy once again demonstrates the same old blatant (and boring!) sexism that is the hallmark of his party,” tweeted state Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D-Queens).

“This outlandishly misogynistic remark, made on the eve of #WomensHistoryMonth, is a trademark of the Republican Party,” added state Assemblywoman and Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn. “We will overcome this blatant sexism & secure a #Democratic victory this November.”
