Yad Vashem Invites Whoopi Goldberg to Come & Learn About the Holocaust

Goldberg’s comments are “an unfortunate indication of a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of the Holocaust and antisemitism.”

Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center, said Goldberg’s statement Sunday night on ABC’s ‘The View,’ insisting that the Holocaust was “not about race,” are “an unfortunate indication of a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of the Holocaust and antisemitism.”

Goldberg apologized the following day.

“We must not mince words; people need to know what led to the Holocaust, the unprecedented murderous drive to annihilate the entire Jewish people their religion, culture and values by the Nazis and their collaborators, primarily because of the unfounded belief that Jews were their foremost and extremely dangerous racial enemy,” the Yad Vashem statement said.

“While her apology and clarification are important, I extend a personal invitation to her to learn more about the causes, events and aftermath of the Holocaust here at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem,” said Yad Vashem director Dani Dayan.

ABC’s ‘The View’ host Whoopi Goldberg insisted that the Holocaust was “not about race” on last Sunday’s show, creating tension among the co-hosts and sparking major backlash on social media.

“Let’s be truthful about it,” Goldberg said during the show. “Because the Holocaust isn’t about race. No, it’s not about race.”

She apologized the next day in a statement on Twitter.

“On Today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both,” she said.

“As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, ‘The Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people — who they deemed to be an inferior race.’ I stand corrected.

“The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver. I’m sorry for the hurt I have caused.

“Written with my sincerest apologies, Whoopi Goldberg.”

On Monday, Rabbi Aryeh Spero, the spokesman of the Conference of Jewish Affairs released the following statement:

“Whoopi Goldberg today pontificated on ABC’s The View that the Holocaust was not about race since “these are two White groups.” She is absolutely wrong and projecting her 2022 BLM-type outlook on a circumstance whose fomentation began about a century ago.

Hitler’s outlook was precisely about demarcating Jews as a different race from the Aryan race, and thus treated as foreigners in Germany and other parts of Europe. The focal point of Nazi propaganda was that Jews were different not because of religion but precisely because their race was different and, thus, conversion of a Jew to Christianity made no change given that the racial component of that particular Jew remained the same.

Hitler and Nazism replaced the difference that historically had focused on religion and demanded that an unbridgeable racial difference existed between Aryans and Jews. In fact, Hitler did not consider Jews white at all.

In today’s woke world, BLM and their sycophants are trying to lump all white people together and are including Jews as part of the white race so as to taint them as oppressors and “privileged.” Whoopi Goldberg is wrong to denigrate Jews, as well as whites, and is miring her viewers with her toxicity.”

Goldberg displayed further ignorance by claiming, “The Holocaust isn’t about race…It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. That’s what it’s about.” But that’s not what Hitler thought. Hitler specifically wrote a book foretelling how he planned to liquidate Jews from the face of Europe. Hitler specifically targeted Jews because they were Jews, not simply because he wanted to be inhumane to mankind. The whole fervor of the Holocaust was centered on destroying Jews and the Jewish people.

Although Whoopi’s last name is Goldberg, evidently she is ill-informed of the Holocaust and Jewish history. She may be numero uno on The View, but her view here is ignorant and disingenuously agenda-driven.”
