Applications are now open for the PMVB Community Impact Grant, a newly-established program from the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau. Grant dollars will help fund a variety of projects that have a lasting impact and improve the quality of life in communities throughout Wayne, Pike, Monroe and Carbon counties.
Local governments including, but not limited to, boroughs and townships as well as municipal and redevelopment authorities and agencies are eligible to apply. Project examples may include parking additions to trailheads or recreation areas, landscaping, outdoor seating, playgrounds, recycling programs, trash removal systems, and beautification projects.
“Tourism is the lifeblood of the Pocono Mountains, and it’s important that we assist the communities that host our nearly 30 million annual visitors,” said Chris Barrett, President/CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau. “Tourism strongly supports the local economy as our region’s top industry, and with that, we recognize the increased costs and need for upgrades related to high and ever-growing visitation.”
Proposals are due by April 30, 2022 for projects to be completed by December 31, 2022, and at least a 50% match is required. The PMVB is allocating $300,000 in funding to this program, which comes from the Hotel Occupancy Tax.
