Lunden Roberts Testifies Before Grand Jury in DOJ Investigation of Hunter Biden

Hunter Biden is making headlines again.

His former lover has testified in court as part of the years-long Department of Justice investigation into President Joe Biden’s son. As reported by the NY Post, on Tuesday morning, Lunden Roberts, who has a 3-year-old daughter from wedlock with the Hunter Biden, testified this week before a federal grand jury in Delaware.  The 52-year-old Biden had revealed in December 2020, just weeks after his father became the 46th president, that he was being investigated for his “tax affairs.”   The top-secret three-year probe into his murky finances and questionable dealings with China are still on trial.  “I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” he had said in a statement at the time.

Hunter Biden has found himself the center of the news too often in recent years.  Last year, Attorney General Merrick Garland unwittingly appointed a special counsel to investigate the sale of Biden’s art –some of which was expected to sell for over $500,000.  In October 2020, a hard drive of Hunter Biden’s laptop was found, with a trove of emails containing details regarding his controversial overseas business dealings, as well as containing explicit photos and videos.  One video recovered from his hard drive seemed to show him smoking pot and engaging in sexual activity with an unnamed woman.

The testimony Roberts gave, which reportedly took several hours, has not been made public.  For her part, Roberts declined to comment to reporters.  Roberts, 31, a former stripper, had given birth to a baby girl, Navy Joan, in August 2018. Months later she filed a paternal lawsuit against Hunter Biden, which was settled in March 2020.  Initially Biden had challenged the suit, and had written in his 2021 autobiography, entitled “Beautiful Things”, that he had “no recollection” of any sexual encounter with Roberts.  Though he has not publicly acknowledged that he is the father, he had later agreed to pay an undisclosed amount of money monthly for child support and health insurance premiums for the child.  Roberts’ attorney, Clinton Lancaster, did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Roberts was not the only one subpoenaed to provide the DOJ with evidence.  As per the Post, in May 2019, JP Morgan Chase bank was subpoenaed for Biden’s bank transactions involving the Bank of China, and also transactions involving his uncle James Biden, and former business partners Devon Archer and Eric Schwerin.
