Billionaire progressive extremist George Soros is trying to shape the ideology of young attorneys by pumping money into John Jay University thru philanthropic groups, which are indirectly tied to his own leftist foundation.
The New York Post reports, “left-wing billionaire George Soros has pumped more than $500,000 into the New York City college that serves as a breeding ground for woke district attorneys. The Dem donor’s charities have funded research and financed programs and a workshop at CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, according to public records.”
“Tom Anderson, director of the Government Integrity Project at the National Legal and Policy Center in Virginia, told The New York Post, “Soros’ team uses cash to throw money into institutions “and make a massive impact that no one realizes that they’re making.”
When The New York Post did investigations into the donations they found, “there does not appear to be a direct link between Soros and the Institute, which is funded by four other groups — Arnold Ventures, the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, Schusterman Family Philanthropies and the Microsoft Justice Reform Initiative. Soros’ Open Society Institute shelled out $500,000 to John Jay’s Center for Media, Crime and Justice in 2007 to help “promote a more comprehensive understanding of crime by journalists,” according to a press release issued at the time. The money was earmarked to help foster connections between reporters and the criminal justice academic and activist community to “promote intelligent, rich, research-backed reporting.”
The relationship between Soros and John Jay college becomes more clear when you see, as The New York Post describes, “The media center has, in turn, supported Soros by publicizing Open Society fellowships in its online “The Crime Report.” The progressive left has an intense focus on spending charitable money to influence journalism in the United States to advance their progressive agenda,” said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a conservative legal group. Soros and his groups have been funding progressive District Attorney candidates across the country in the name of criminal justice reform. To promote and perpetuate his radical “soft on crime view,” Soros targets institutions such as John Jay “by supporting DAs and through his grant making,” Fitton said.”
John Byrne, of Capital Research Center, says, “George Soros has spent millions on giving to left-wing progressive candidates for district attorney positions across the country in an effort to advance his radical criminal reform agenda. The massive donations have given these progressive candidates significant advantages in their local races, and many of them have been elected. These left-wing progressive district attorneys’ policies have significantly reduced prosecution rates, leading to predictable increases in violent crimes and a lack of justice for the victims. The similarities between the goals of these left-wing prosecutors and racial justice groups funded by Soros provide a grim outlook for how these polarizing, popular groups will affect our political institutions.”
With the rise in crime in New York City, and beyond, means we need District Attorneys who will be tougher on any and all types of crime. A study done by Capital Research Center shows, “The Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) analyzed the outcome of dropping conviction rates under six different progressive district attorneys. These district attorneys are cited as “criminal justice reform” prosecutors who seek to use their elected positions to unilaterally end mass incarceration and racial disparities in convictions and reduce recidivism rates. The report found that in each of the six prosecutors’ jurisdictions, felony crime rates have increased while their prosecutors’ policies are reducing conviction rates. The net results are a lack of justice for victims and rising crime rates. The report concludes, “This signals a troubling trend as these progressive activists attain local prosecutorial roles and may mark a rise in crime in the affected jurisdictions and nearby locales.”
