The New York Post has exposed the details behind the disgraced former Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer sex scandal. According to The New York Post, “former Governor Eliot Spitzer used an alias at a Manhattan hospital while checking in on the escort he was accused of choking hours before in February 2016. Spitzer, 62, also name-dropped then-Police Commissioner Bill Bratton to cops who were investigating the Plaza Hotel incident and claimed that blood found in the hotel room after Svetlana Travis-Zakharova slit her wrist was from her menstrual cycle, according to investigative documents that lawyers for The Post fought to have unsealed.”

Jesse O’Neill of The New York Post reports, “in the aftermath of the violent encounter, the then-25-year-old woman threatened she would “make it worse than 2008” for Spitzer, when he resigned as governor after it was revealed he was patronizing another prostitute, according to a lengthy text message exchange between the disgraced Democrat and the purported former $5,000-a-night hooker”.

The New York Post recently reported that, “Eliot Spitzer has asked a judge to consider tossing the rest of a lawsuit filed by his accuser and Russian escort Svetlana Travis— as parts of her suit were just made public. The alleged $5,000-a-night call girl filed suit against the disgraced former governor in 2020 but the case was filed under seal and only partially made public recently after The Post and another media outlet petitioned a judge.”

The Guardian, a newspaper based in the UK writes of Spitzer’s legacy as, “Long before there was Barack Obama there was Spitzer. While Obama toiled unknown in Illinois, the Bronx-born Spitzer won himself a national reputation as the “Sheriff of Wall Street”. He was New York’s tough-talking attorney-general, who fought banking corruption, enforced environment law and won rights for low-paid workers. He used that fame to enter politics and in 2006 became governor of New York: a perfect springboard for the White House. Before America fell in love with its first black president, people wondered if it was willing to embrace its first Jewish one. Spitzer could have made history. Instead, he left office in disgrace three years ago amid a flood of tabloid headlines that recounted salacious details from his repeated use of a high-end escort service. Spitzer was dubbed the “Luv Guv” and forced into a political wilderness. Rarely in American politics was a fall from grace so spectacular, so complete and so clearly down to a self-inflicted human flaw.”
