The Jewish Voice will never stop reporting on attacks on Jewish persons in NY and beyond, especially as they seem to be happening in greater numbers in recent days.
Brooklyn in particular has lately been a hotbed of virulent anti-Semitism.
The New York Post reports that, “a man in traditional Jewish garb was randomly slugged in Brooklyn over the weekend, authorities said. The 21-year-old victim was walking at Troy Avenue and Carroll Street in Crown Heights around 1:20 a.m. Saturday when the suspect approached him from across the street, cops said.
Footage obtained by the Orthodox Jewish news service COLlive shows the victim, dressed in his Hasidic garments, standing on the sidewalk with another person identified by the outlet as his friend and fellow yeshiva student. The suspect first swung at the friend, who managed to get away, the clip shows. The attacker turned his attention to the victim, who he socked in the nose, the clip shows. The victim then ran away from the suspect, too, according to the footage.” Anyone with any information regarding this terrible crime is encouraged to contact NYPD Crimestoppers. The case it being treated as a hate crime by the NYPD Hate Crimes Unit.
Another recent event that resulted in an arrest was a woman verbally assaulting a group of kids in Brooklyn. The New York Post reports, “the woman who allegedly told three Jewish kids “Hitler should have killed you all” before spitting on an 8-year-old boy in Brooklyn has been arrested, cops said Friday.
Suspect Christina Darling, a 21-year-old student at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, was busted Friday morning and charged with aggravated harassment and menacing, both as hate crimes, and acting in a manner injurious to a child, NYPD Hate Crimes said.” According to The New York Post, “Darling is accused of storming up to the boy, who was with two other kids, around 12:30 p.m. Jan. 14 on Avenue P near Coleman Street in Marine Park, about five blocks from her home, police said.
She snarled at the kids, “Hitler should have killed you all. I’ll kill you and know where you live,” cops said. Footage released by the NYPD on Tuesday shows Christina standing directly in front of the kids as she spat on the boy, cops said. Christina, who wore an orange hoodie with black leggings and black Ugg-style boots, fled after she accosted the kids, police said. Details of how cops tracked her down weren’t immediately known.”
Crime in New York City is has been on this rise throughout the Covid-19 pandemic crisis. People are not safe on the streets or the subway. In 2021, 30 people were pushed onto the tracks of the New York City Subway. We are only one month into 2022 and, already, we have had three people pushed. CNN reports, In the transit system, there were 28 robberies, 24 felony assaults and 42 grand larcenies from January 1 to 16, compared to 13 robberies, 20 assaults and 25 grand larcenies during the first 16 days of last year, according to the NYPD.”
