If the courts order recounts for the ballots in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor, it is estimated that it may take until the end of August, if not later, to announce a winner. Maya Wiley, a fierce left-wing, mayoral candidate who supports the suicidal defund the police policy, originally supported the change to the to the city’s voting system. After 135,000 test votes were counted in the first round of ranked choice voting, Wiley claimed the Board of Elections (BOE) sounded like Donald Trump: “This error by the BOE is not just failure to count votes properly,” Wiley charged. Along with statements of other candidates who are behind, Wiley’s charges will leave the question of the legitimacy up in the air as to the mayoral election count. That would also be true in having a judge decide who the next mayor of New York City will be. With the board of elections confusing RCV count compounded with the complicated NY election laws, the same New York liberals who ridiculed Trump’s accusations that elections can and are stolen will certainly feel that the outcome of the mayor’s race has been grossly manipulated.

Because of switching to the (RCV) the city now faces a perfect storm of destroying confidence in a new mayor who must be strong on day one to repair and save this city from total collapse on a multitude of fronts. The incompetence of the New York board of elections has become the premiere story of the mayor’s race.

What has been neglected in media reportage is the harsh reality that NYC has lost 1/2 million jobs — more than any other American city — and has an unemployment rate nearly twice the national average.

Midtown is a mere shadow of its former self; gun violence and attacks on tourists are spiraling with each passing moment, subway ridership is a third of what it once was, and NYC public school enrollment has drastically plunged. For more information about the incompetent BOE, read the Jewish Voice: The Permanent Tammany Hall Board of Elections.

Critics on the political left are raising serious questions about the credibility of the BOE and its ability to execute elections. The Black, Latino and Asian Caucus of the NYC Council is now calling for an oversight hearing on the recent Dem primaries.

Let us consider the changes leading away from the path of free and fair elections that NYC’s election gurus and the voters have already put into force. There is the unverified absentee ballot portal, a lack of voter ID requirements and the new RCV procedure. As more BOE problems are exposed, let us watch and see how the “blame game” is scripted this time.
