Shaun Donovan’s bid to become Mayor of NYC is flushed with millions, yet he has gained next to no traction in polls, and a new expose by the Daily Mail about his father, is not going to help his sinking campaign in the least.
Former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 2009 to 2014, and Director of the US Office of Management and Budget (2014-2017), Shaun Donovan, framed his campaign as the most environmentally conscious in the rankings.
In the early days of the campaign, Shaun outlined a plan in the early days of the campaign that includes building zero-emissions buildings, pooling philanthropic funding for parks and paying more attention to the historic injustices embedded in environmental risks, according to City Limits.
Shaun Donovan received a $6.8million donation from millionaire father Michael Donovan through a super PAC, making him the largest single donor in the entire mayoral race, according to the NY Post. Donovan has spent over $5 million alone on media buys, especially on local TV, and has not made a dent in the polls, as he is near the bottom of the pack with single digit numbers.
The NY Times recently acknowledged how bad his campaign is doing with a recent article “Shaun Donovan Has the Résumé and the Money. He Just Needs the Votes”. He touts his extensive experience, as the Commissioner of the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development and his positions under President Obama, yet his press conferences are attended by next to nobody, and the latest about his father is sure to seal his fate in liberal NYC.
The Daily mail reported: Donovan running on a ‘green’ platform is reportedly receiving millions of dollars in donations from his father, who has three homes, a private jet and once mowed through protected wetlands in front of his home.
Daily Mail chronicled: Michael Donovan’s company Mediaocean was acquired by Vista Equity Partners in a $720 million deal in 2015, and one year later, Michael bought a property in the Hamptons for $18.2 million, with 11 bedrooms, 12-and-a-half bathrooms and a five-car garage.
He also owns a limestone luxury cooperative building that was once home to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in Manhattan and a third home in Charlottesville, Virginia that he could fly his family to on his private jet, which was recently upgraded from a Cessna Citation.
Daily Mail reported on another ironic tidbit:
One year after he bought the sprawling Hamptons property, the Southampton Planning Department cited him for mowing through a 75-foot wide ‘naturally vegetative wetland’ in front of his home, according to Marin Shea, the town’s chief environmental analyst.
“Donovan is another phony, limousine liberal, posing as an environmentalist, meaning in essence, do as I say, not as I do, and his virtue signaling, last week, taking the knee for George Floyd and getting arrested for blocking traffic, on the anniversary of Floyd’s death, was embarrassing. NY voters are simply not drawn to a phony virtue signaling, rich, white guy to be mayor”, a political insider told TJV.
