An Open Letter to Senator Chuck Schumer

By: TJVNews.com

As Senate Majority leader and representative of the people of New York in the US Senate, the Jewish Voice asks Senator Chuck Schumer to provide a detailed response to each of the following questions. We ask Sen. Schumer to speak candidly about his nuanced positions on Israel and the alarming rise in anti-Semitism in the halls of congress.

Question:

You are well known for claiming to serve as an advocate and “defender” of Jewish causes in the Senate, and yet, many in the media have argued that you were “missing in action” over the past month when anti-Semitic incidents reached unprecedented levels, particularly in NY. While you appeared quite frequently during the past two months promoting a new Democrat agenda, that absence on issues vital to the Jewish community was well-noted. Can you explain?

Question:

It is well known in political circles that AOC is considering a run for the Senate, with perhaps a challenge to your own seat. It is also well known that you seem to have capitulated to her many political pronouncements for fear of alienating her, which further serves that narrative. On several occasions, you have actually stood by her side during her own press appearances and seem to have nervously endorsed her policies. If that isn’t the case, then you fail to realize that that is indeed the perception of most political commentators.

Question:

A letter was recently published by 73 Democrats which targets Israel. The letter represents the obvious:  Democrats blaming Israel for the absence of peace in the Middle East, suggesting that settlements are the cause of the problem rather than an Arab intransigence that fails to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish State. Where were you on this, and why should we not take your silence as a sign of capitulation?

Question:

AIPAC was always viewed as being proponents of strong American support for Israel. The Zionist Organization of America even more so. And yet, the new Biden Administration is in lock-step with J Street in calling for pressures to be directed at Israel. Where is the Chuck Schumer voice against these unprecedented pressures?

Questions:

Biden’s new foreign policy team is really not new. It is a recycled Obama team. We know the names: Robert Malley, Wendy Sherman, Jake Sullivan, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, Antony Blinken, Hady Amar, and another half dozen. They are united in their support for reestablishing a new Iran Nuke Deal and rewarding the Palestinian Authority with monies, diplomatic offices and a 2-State solution. This is certainly a terrible step in the wrong direction, and you are not only silent, you are supportive. How do you spin this, Mr. Senator?

Question:

The most recent poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research shows tremendous support by Palestinian Arabs for Hamas, and away from the Palestinian Authority. In fact, 2/3 believe that the “armed struggle” against Israel should continue even after the establishment of a Palestinian State. Why are you silent on this terrible revelation?

Question:

The PA has stated quite bluntly that they will continue to fund terrorists and their families, in defiance of the Taylor Force Act of 2018. Why do we reward terror? Secretary of State Blinken is trying some cosmetic change, where the monies would be viewed as going only to those families with “social welfare” needs. Who are we fooling Mr. Senator?

Question

Why did you not fly out to Jerusalem to attend the opening of our Embassy in Israel to that city? Whey were there no elected Democrats at that event? Were you all ordered by President Obama to boycott it? Do you now regret not having attended this major move?

Question

When BLM supporters marched through the streets of New York City, chanting “What do we want, Pigs in blankets,” and What do we want, dead cops!”  you never condemned them. Why not?

Question

Do you consider the BLM movement to be Jew/Israel hating? Why or why not?

Question

When overt Israel hater, Keith Ellison ran to chair the Democratic National Committee, you were his major supporter. Did you not know that he was associated with Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam group and an official of the Council on Islamic American Relations (CAIR) when you backed his election to run the Democratic Party?

Question

When you originally voted against the Obama Iran Nuclear Deal, why did you not caucus Senate Democrats under your control to also reject it?

Question

Back in October of 2017 when President Trump threatened to revoke this nation’s participation in the Iran Nuclear Deal which under President Obama, you were against, you tweeted “The @SenateDems agree with #SecDef Mattis and General Dunford. We won’t allow the Iran deal to be undone,” supporting keeping the original Iran deal in place. If a vote were held right now to re-enter the treaty as originally approved by President Obama, would you vote “Yes” or “No?”

Question

Do you consider The Squad dangerous to Israel and American Jewry?

Question

Do you support the “1619 Project” to be taught in public schools?
