New York ended 2020 in a dystopian fashion, as the ball dropped in a deserted Times Square, Mayor de Blasio, and First Lady Chirlane McCray, danced to “New York, New York” while police surrounded the famed area, stopping anyone from partaking in the tradition which started in 1907.
Reuters pointed out before the event: Mayor Bill de Blasio and police officials have told New Yorkers and out-of-towners alike to stay away and watch pared-down festivities on television. A large contingent of police officers will barricade the area to prevent unauthorized people from gathering, aiming to prevent an event that could accelerate the spread of the virus in a city already struggling to contain it.
Several reports showed that there were several thousand revelers in the Times Square area, outside the barricaded blocks, traditionally filled with millions of tourists. Even with these revelers, NYC was almost completely deserted, as there were no events to attend, and most businesses completely shuttered.
Shortly after the New Year rang in, a group of several hundred Black Trans Lives Matter radicals, desecrated the historic 143-year-old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, in a bizarre anti-religious, pro-black transgender rights protest.
This event seemed to capture 2020 perfectly. For several months everything had been prohibited in NY due to pandemic restrictions: from gathering for weddings, funerals, and religious services, to most normal social functions such as sitting in a diner for coffee, while the mayor gleefully encouraged the sometimes violent communist-tinged BLM movement to gather across the city, looting businesses, disrupting traffic and assaulting police officers.
Social media exploded with criticism of the mayor’s midnight dance, critiquing de Delasio’s display as thoughtless and similar to communist regimes, who would dine and live an opulent life as their citizens starved to death. The mayor, oblivious to the criticism posted the dance on his Twitter account:
Meanwhile, a bizarre anti-police, transgender rights protest formed in Union Square and ended up on 5th Ave where anti-police radicals spraypainted “All Cops Are Bastards” on the historical St Patricks Cathedral and chanted about G*d being “nonbinary”. Essentially ringing in 2021 with the same activity which caused hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to flee the city in 2020.
Social media captured the unhinged lunacy, which people of the Catholic faith, would consider blasphemy.
