(NEWSMAX/TJVNEWS.COM/EPOCH TIMES)  Police posted flyers near the site of Wednesday’s pro-Trump protests that firearms will be prohibited, Newsweek reports.

The sign says the prohibition is in effect Monday, Jan. 4 to Thursday, Jan. 7.

“Members of the public and anyone attending the events are reminded that District law prohibits anyone from carrying a firearm within 1,000 feet of any First Amendment activity,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a press release Sunday. “Under federal law, it is illegal to possess firearms on the U.S. Capitol grounds and on National Park Service areas, such as Freedom Plaza, the Ellipse, and the National Mall.”

Bowser continued: “Additionally, members of the public are reminded that the District of Columbia does not have reciprocity with other states’ concealed pistol licenses; unless a person has been issued a concealed pistol license by the District of Columbia, they cannot conceal carry a firearm in the city. Finally, it is illegal to open carry firearms in the district.”

Supporters of President Donald Trump plan to march in the area Wednesday as a joint session of Congress convenes to certify the Electoral College votes cast in December that gave Democrat Joe Biden the victory.

Several Republicans in the House and Senate have said they plan to challenge the results in states such as Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, and Wisconsin where Trump’s legal team alleges voter fraud.

Meanwhile,  Some 100 National Guardsmen will be in Washington this week to help support police officers patrolling protests planned by President Donald Trump supporters this week, Epoch Times reported.

We have received confirmation that the D.C. National Guard will be assisting the Metropolitan Police Department, beginning tomorrow through the life cycle of this event,” Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee III told reporters at a press conference on Monday.

National Guard personnel will be assisting police officers with crowd management and traffic control, freeing officers “to focus on anyone who’s intent on instigating, agitating, or participating in violence in our city,” he added.

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat, revealed she’d asked for National Guard personnel in a Dec. 31 letter to District of Columbia National Guard Commanding General William Walker.

Bowser said guardsmen would not be armed and would not be engaged in domestic surveillance, searches, or seizures of Americans.

While the uber leftist mayor of DC has insisted Trump supporters, conservative activists, libertarians, and Proud Boys brought violence during the last 2 MAGA marches on the capitol, most violence appeared to be perpetrated by left-wing agitators, with right-wingers retaliating. With rumors swirling and popular conservative talk show hosts such as Alex Jones hyping the January 6th protest, as  Congress convenes to certify the Electoral College votes, this could be a historic and controversial day.  President Trump has indicated he will address his supporters on Wednesday. All eyes will be on D.C this week
