-Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez continue their reign as the most tone deaf couple. Whether posting pictures of their perfectly blended families in their $30 million California home or $10 million Hamptons mansion they seem to be enjoying quarantine way too much-playing football and posting corny TikTok videos. Lopez’s attempt to garner sympathy during the pandemic was a non-starter. The 51-year-old lamented the depression and tough moments she experienced during the lockdown while claiming “everybody, aged like three years.” That is everybody but Lopez and Rodriguez who had their trainers in tow and undoubtedly a plastic surgeon or two. If Rodriguez’s teeth were any whiter I might ski on them. The pinnacle of insensitivity occurred three days ago, when Rodriguez posted a picture of J.Lo in their blue and white private jet with matching $1,550 Hermès blankets strewn about asking people what their plans were for Thaksgiving. The most biting reply was “we are in the middle of a pandemic so probably staying home you entitled douchebag.” While Alex and Jen drive around in their $300,000 white Bentley convertible, or Jen poses nude for her new album cover adding to their billion dollar empire I will be sitting home eating chicken (since Fairway ran out of kosher turkey) lamenting to my mother in Miami what a miserable year this has been. The conclusion of my evening will most likely include some depressing Netflix fare-take that J.Lo.

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrive at the annual Endeavour Fund Awards in London on March 5, 2020. The Duchess of Sussex has revealed that she had a miscarriage in July. Meghan described the experience in an opinion piece in the New York Times on Wednesday. She wrote: “I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.” The former Meghan Markle and husband Prince Harry have a son, Archie, born in 2019. -Every time I read an article in The New York Times, CNN, The Guardian, or Daily Mail questioning whether Ivanka and Jared will be accepted back into New York society I literally guffaw. Socialite Jill Kargman mistakenly remarked, “I see them as Glenn Close at the end of Dangerous Liaisons, with the entire opera house jeering.” Firstly, Ivanka and Jared could care less whether they are embraced-with a combined net worth of $800 million, three beautiful children, and an exemplary extended family their lives are more than complete. Moreover, Ivanka and Jared were never part of New York society-by choice. Ivanka may have attended one or two ballet galas a year along with the Costume Institute dinner; however, the very private couple are practicing Orthodox Jews who prefer low key evenings with small groups of close friends and confidants. While the entire world is undoubtedly open to them, they will choose quality over quantity and might even mull a run for office.

-Meghan Markle and Prince Harry keep trying to be relatable but just come off as hateable-and I am unsure why. I am starting to feel bad for this desperate, yet harmless duo. Markle revealed in The New York Times she had a miscarriage in July while changing the diaper of her son Archie, an undeniable tragedy for the 39-year old who was greeted with snarky comments on Twitter. She is part of an ever growing trend of celebrities such as Hilaria Baldwin, Carrie Underwood and Chrissy Teigen revealing the pain associated with losing an unborn child. Meghan and Harry still haven’t figured out how much of their lives they want to keep private as they sue numerous press outlets for unwanted intrusions and photographs. They always keep Archie ensconced in the house and rarely venture out in public-frustrating their global audience. Hopefully this year will be less chaotic for the princely pair as they attempt to figure things out. Another royal couple struggling with public disapprobation are Charles and Camilla, who have turned off their Twitter comments due to hateful remarks. The Netflix show The Crown, which is taken as fact in Britain, has jeopardized the 72-year-old Charles long awaited ascension to the throne. It’s as if the ghost of Diana has returned to destroy the doomed couple.

-This Thanksgiving the AAA is predicting more than 50 million people will travel by plane, train or automobile, down only $5 million from last year’s pre-pandemic world. The public is weary of endless coronavirus lockdowns; flouting the CDC’s recommendations to postpone travel. The one good thing about gorging yourself this Thanksgiving is people probably won’t recognize the extra five pounds since most of us have put on at least 15 during quarantine. Some helpful weight loss advice is: four pieces of pecan pie is unnecessary; alcohol is not a food group; and despite cranberry sauce‘s bitter taste it contains plenty of sugar. Most importantly, try to have a few laughs as nobody knows what awaits in 2021.
