Former NJ Gov Chris Christie Attacks Trump Legal Team; Calls Them “Nat’l Embarrassment”

By: Newsmax/TJV News

The behavior of President Donald Trump’s legal team has been a “national embarrassment,” former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie told ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

Christie, who is a staunch Trump ally, said it was time for the president to end his efforts to overturn the results of the election, as he has failed to provide any evidence of fraud.

“If you have got the evidence of fraud, present it,” Christie said.

He harshly criticized efforts by Trump’s lawyers to smear Republican governors who have not supported the president’s claims of a rigged election, specifically citing attorney Sidney Powell accusing Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp of a crime

“This is outrageous conduct by any lawyer,” Christie said, emphasizing that Trump’s attorneys have made accusations in public but have not raised them in court, where there are legal consequences for giving false information.

“They allege fraud outside the courtroom, but when they go inside the courtroom, they don’t plead fraud and they don’t argue fraud,” he said.

Christie stressed that “I have been a supporter of the president’s. I voted for him twice, but elections have consequences, and we cannot continue to act as if something happened here that didn’t happen.”

He said that “If you are unwilling to come forward and present the evidence, it must mean the evidence doesn’t exist. … The country is what has to matter the most. As much as I’m a strong Republican and I love my party, it’s the country that has to come first.”

Christie lost all of his political clout during his second term a governor of NY. I

n July 2017 during a budget shutdown and partial closing of state government services and facilities, the governor and his family were photographed from an airplane vacationing at Island Beach State Park alone on the beach. The beach which was closed to the public as a result of the shutdown, and Christie commuted to the beach from Trenton via state helicopter while his family was staying at the official governor’s residence there. His spokesman said that he didn’t “get any sun” because he was wearing a baseball cap at the time of the photo. When asked in an interview about people being upset that he was at the beach when they were unable to visit the beach, Christie responded, “‘I’m sorry they’re not the governor'”
