(i24) Separate Palestinian military wings began coordinating efforts in attacks against Jewish state
Terrorist factions in the Gaza Strip are preparing for a long-term military campaign against Israel, Lebanese pro-Hezbollah newspaper Al-Akhbar reported on Saturday.
The barrage of rockets launched at Israel on Friday morning was a show of strength perpetrated by several militias in the Palestinian enclave, while also responding to earlier Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) targeting of Hamas posts, the newspaper reported.
Last week, Palestinian terror groups warned to respond to any Israeli hit on Hamas or other factions’ facilities.
According to Al-Akhbar, Gaza Strip organizations have started to work together in order to increase the amount and frequency of arson balloons launched toward Israel.
Israel has seen waves of incendiary attacks launched from the enclave toward communities living in the Gaza envelope, igniting hundreds of fires over the past month and inflicting damage on civilian property.
Tensions between Jerusalem and the southern Palestinian entity have risen in recent weeks, with a Qatari envoy entering the Gaza Strip earlier in the week to try to reach an agreement over a ceasefire.
In addition, Hamas has reimposed a lockdown in its territory as coronavirus cases have reemerged in the past week.
