Defunding the New York City Police

Dear Editor:

Even as Seattle’s Mayor has just shut down CHOPS, Mayor De Blasio and his City Council have ordered the defunding of the NYPD by 1.5 billion dollars. This is misguided, insane, a short-term pyrrhic victory, a long-term disaster.

Many crimes are not caused by living in poor neighborhoods; if they were, then everyone who lived in marginalized communities would be toting guns and shooting young children down in the streets. This is not the case.

And the best social work, education, health care, including mental health care, etc. cannot, as yet, cure criminal sociopaths, serial killers, rapists, woman-batterers, child abusers, school shooters, mass murderers, etc.

Are we really deciding to let civilians handle these creeps on our own? Without training, without weaponry? Are we actually ready to condemn the most vulnerable of citizens to murder and mayhem? If so, what has come over us?

Bottomless Demands…Or Else

Dear Editor:

When do “protests” become mobs? Terrorism is defined as “the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.”  A recent sampling:

• Black Lives Matter “protesters” attacked Catholics praying near the Apotheosis of St. Louis statue. “Protester” said “When we have no voice, the knives come out.”
• Greater New York president of BLM, “If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it.”
• “Protesters” set up an actual guillotine outside of Jeff Bezos’ DC home.

The $1 billion shift from policing is not enough for Ocasio-Cortez, (AOC), or “activists.” She says, “Defunding police means defunding police. It does not mean budget tricks or funny math.” Hmmm. Maybe she can’t do math to begin with?  Frankly, it was never one of my best subjects. “Leftist protesters created another “autonomous” no-cop zone around NYC’s City Hall at the invitation of de Blasio.”

Perhaps Wilhelm should fire the guard to Gracie Mansion, invite the “protestors” to move in, and relocate to a crime ridden inner city apartment. If he or his family need to call 911, at this rate, they will get a recording saying, “sorry, the number you reached is no longer in service.” Dozens of police, the majority of whom do their jobs with grace and restraint, are resigning in disgust. And who can blame them?  Alice In Wonderland’s insane, wicked Queen would yell, “off with their heads” to any and all she disliked. I fear the guillotine planted in front of capitalist Jeff Bezos’ home is coming to a town near you.

The Beverly Hills “Hypocrites”

Dear Editor:

I hope the Hollywood pinkos and the other elitists who live in Beverly Hills know what hypocrites they really are.  They are on the side of Black Life Matters and screaming ”  Defund the Police”, that is until it hits home.  A large mob of BLM followers stormed their residential neighborhood and the ultra expensive Rodeo Drive calling ” Abolish Capitalism and Eat the Rich”.  They became very frightened and called 911.  So the police came and arrested many of the domestic terrorists and saved the rich.

So now they want police, now they needed help and it was alright for police to come and put themselves in danger.  Shame on these hypocrites, they cower in their mansions and agree with dangerous anarchists and fund them with their millions.  The idiot City Counsel  in Minneapolis, voted unanimously to Dismantle their police department and replace them with Community people who will use “Holistic” methods.

Will they offer some essential oils to rub their backs with when they are holding a loaded gun???  No I don’t think that will work.  They would cry like babies realizing  it is too late.  Give me a break, you can’t have it both ways.

Does Google Have a Problem with The Jewish Voice?

Dear Editor:

I use Gmail because it’s free, reliable and over the years, I’ve become proficient in using it, or so I thought until recently. My discomfiting problem is the shortly after subscribing to your excellent publication, Gmail, against my wishes, began putting The Jewish Voice in the PROMOTIONS folder where emails touting products and services are sent. The Jewish Voice has no business being assigned to this junk mail destination. I have changed the Gmail label to inbox, marked it important and personal- all to no avail.

I wonder whether  Gmail has a vendetta against The Jewish Voice or it’s only my ineptitude that has caused this issue? I greatly enjoy your publication, and hope that my experience is an isolated one.
