NYC saw another weekend of increased shootings and violence, as 15 shootings were reported over 15 hours, according to the NY Post.
Some speculate it is because of the environment of NYC in the coronavirus era, one can look to the high unemployment numbers, some look to the conflicts between police and government as the catalyst.
The Post reported: They capped 43 shootings so far this week — more than triple last year’s tally of 13 for the same period, sources said.
In another incident that did not involve a shooting but involved violence and total disregard of the police occurred in the Bronx. When 2 officers tried to clear a group off street, the officers were surrounded, and several suspects wrestled on the floor with the police.
And as the crowd cheered, a man they were trying to arrest put one of the two officers in a headlock — one of the very maneuvers they themselves will, under a new City Council bill, soon face misdemeanor charges for using. NY Post reported
“F–k him up! F–k him up!” an unidentified man who filmed the lawless encounter shouts as the suspect wraps his right arm around one of the cops’ necks.
This early July incident has popped up on social media and has gone viral as an example of how out of control crime is in NYC and the abuse NYPD officers face on the streets from criminals and anti-police sentiment among citizens.

A man is fighting for his life after being shot in the face in Sheepshead Bay early Sunday, police say. The incident happened just after 1 a.m. when the victim was in his car on Shore Parkway by Haring Street, News 12 reported.

Early Sunday in Brownsville, meanwhile, a 23-year-old man told cops he was shot in the right leg after accidentally bumping into someone who pulled a gun and started firing, sources said.
In Queens, at least three people were injured after a fight just after midnight in the World’s Fair Marina parking lot in Corona, source say.
Also in Queens, a 39-year-old man was shot in the chest just before midnight while in a car in Far Rockaway by someone who drove up in a grey SUV, sources say. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, sources said.
In another shooting, a 19-year-old man was walking to buy food in Brownsville when he was shot in the thigh, ankle, and forearm by a stranger around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Friday evening saw its share of bloodshed in the city as well.
Police say two teenagers were shot early Friday morning in Unionport.
According to police, a 17-year-old and 16-year-old were shot outside 2004 Ellis Ave. early this morning, News 12 reported. This was early Friday morning
Later on, Friday: An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Friday night in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn, police say.
The incident happened around 7:45 p.m. in front of 100 W. New Jersey Ave.
When they arrived, they found the 18-year-old was shot in the torso.
He was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say they have made no arrests at this time, News 12 reported.
Thursday night, there were 3 shootings in Crown Heights within a few hours. 4 people were left with gunshot wounds. All in stable condition, Bronx 12 reported.
According to NYPD statistics there has been a 63% increase in shootings this year compared to last year. However, for this week alone there has been a 200% increase compared to this week last year.
The last few days of shooting continue the ongoing trend, although this weekend saw a little less carnage than the post July 4th blood bath
The New York City Police Department saw 42 people shot since 12 a.m, post July 4th and at least six of those victims died from their injuries. A spokesperson for the department said those shootings occurred within a 15-hour period, NBC reported.
