Tulsa Mayor Expects ‘Civil Unrest’ Ahead Of Trump Rally, Imposes Curfew

An Oklahoma mayor imposed a state of emergency Thursday, announcing a curfew ahead of President Donald Trump’s Saturday rally in Tulsa.

Republican Tulsa Mayor G. T. Bynum issued an executive order imposing a curfew centered around the area where the president will visit. Bynum said he anticipates “crowds in excess of 100,000” including people “planning to travel” for the sole purpose of violence and destruction, his executive order stated.

“I have received information from the Tulsa Police Department and other law enforcement agencies that shows that individuals from organized groups who have been involved in destructive and violent behavior in other States are planning to travel to the city of Tulsa for purposes of causing unrest in and around the rally,” Bynum wrote in the executive order.

Both pedestrian and vehicle traffic is prohibited in the “federal exclusion zone.” Bynum also issued restrictions on Molotov cocktails and other combustibles like kerosine in Tulsa’s city limits for purposes other than “normal home use or legitimate commercial use.”

The rally is set to take place at the BOK center, an upscale concert venue which boasts a capacity of 20,000. Potential attendees were seen gathered outside the event center as early as Monday in tents to secure a spot in competition with the over 1,000,000 people signed up to attend, according to Trump campaign information obtained by Fox News.

Coronavirus mitigation concerns have also been expressed by executives in charge of the BOK center. The Trump Campaign said they would issue masks, hand sanitizer and temperature checks to every attendee, according to Fox News.
