Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz met Sunday afternoon, in a bid to reach an agreement over Netanyahu’s plan to apply Israeli sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria.

The two leaders will, according to reports on the meeting, “try to reach an agreement regarding the extent” of Israel’s application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi (Blue and White) is expected to join the meeting, along with Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin (Likud) and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman.

Under the terms of the coalition agreement, Prime Minister Netanyahu is permitted to introduce the sovereignty bill starting July 1st – even without Blue and White’s support for the bill.

Nevertheless, the two sides hope to reach an agreement on the details of the sovereignty plan, which has yet to be finalized.

Earlier on Sunday, settlement leaders from the Yesha Councli called on Netanyahu to protect the interests “of the two million voters of the right-wing bloc” who helped keep him in office.

“We are in the midst of a historic time for the settlements, and ask the prime minister to consider the more than two million voters of the right-wing bloc who chose him in order to apply sovereignty here in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley,” the council noted.
