As riots (and some peaceful demonstrations) spread across the country, leaving two dead in what’s undoubtedly the worst outpouring of America’s long-simmering racial tensions to rock the US in decades, two Federal Protective Service officers suffered gunshot wounds in Oakland Friday night, leaving one of them dead, police said. The shooting occurred as at least 7,500 people took to the streets of the city as riots and outrage over the murder of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer spread to more than a dozen cities around the country.
Here in NYC, the police commissioner announced this morning, that protests are officially allowed, with no social distancing mentioned in his announcement, After 11 weeks of lockdowns, where families are not allowed to gather on a blanket for a picnic unless it’s a group of 20 or less, thousands of potentially violent protesters can freely take over the streets. In a city where religious Jews were fined and threatened with arrest for attending a funeral, thousands of belligerent protesters cursing and threatening police can freely protest without a mask or standing 6 feet apart.
Reports are coming in that several officers were attacked in Brooklyn, broken teeth & several hospitalizations. In Brooklyn 2 women were charged with attempted murder after throwing Molotov cocktails at police vans
Social media captured the violent protests all across the nation.
CNN Headquarters in Atlanta was swarmed with protesters, police cars attacked, the entertainment network’s headquarters was damaged. President Trump Tweeted the irony of CNN being attacked. CNN has literally supported the riots and supported ANTIFA and BLM since social unrest started picking up steam in 2012 in Missouri and Baltimore.
