The celebratory procession which including lively singing and dancing took place at 1 pm from the Scheiner residence to Bais Medrash Ohr Chaim at 18 Forshay Road in the Forshay district of Monsey.
Monsey is an Orthodox Jewish enclave in Rockland County; about an hour north of New York City. On Saturday evening, the 7th night of Chanukah, an anti-Semitic attacker entered the home of Rabbi Chaim Rottenberg on Forshay Road and began to stab the Jews attending a Melava Malka and Chanukah party there. In the end, 5 Jews were stabbed and one remains in critical condition at an area hospital.
The suspect, Grafton Thomas of Greenwood Lake was driving a Nissan Sentra across the George Washington Bridge into New York City when his car’s tag was captured by a license plate reader at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, about an hour after the attack, authorities said.
This marks the 13th anti-Semitic attack in the last several weeks in the NY/NJ area.
The Hachnosas Sefer Torah represents the power of resilience, strength, unity and the determination that is entrenched in the Jewish DNA to continue to serve Hashem with joy and alacrity.
