A professor at the tax-payer funded public SUNY College has penned a lesson plan teaching hate, violence and intolerance.
Nicholas Powers, an associate professor of literature at the college in Old Westbury, Long Island, wrote an article entitled, “Seeing poor white people makes me happy”. The hateful article, published on June 11 to the website RaceBaitr contains the following rhetoric: “White people begging us for food feels like justice . . . It feels like a Black Nationalist wet dream,” Powers wrote as he recounted seeing a “white homeless boy” panhandling in a black neighborhood. “Should I kick him in the face? Hard?” writes Powers.
As reported by the NY Post, Powers, 44, who identifies himself as a Puerto Rican and part of the “black nationalist tradition”, has been teaching at the State University of New York since 2006. “Today I own my anger. I want to snatch his food and say, ‘Go beg in a white neighborhood!’ And eat it. And rub my belly. And laugh,” wrote Powers, recounting his reaction to seeing the homeless white man again. “Here is a descendant of murderers who killed our ancestors now begging us to save their life,” he continued.
The publishing website, RaceBaitr, considers itself an online platform “dedicated to imagining and working toward a world outside of the white supremacist . . . gaze.” Powers’ piece has since been deleted from the website.
In another piece published in June 2016 on a different website, The Independent, Powers slams voters who elected President Trump calling them, “racist a- -holes.” “F- -k your whiteness with my dirty Rick James boots,” he wrote in the profanity filled piece.
In yet another piece written he wrote in 2018, Powers divulges that he got high on ecstasy, roaming the East Village to celebrate the election victory of former President Barack Obama in 2008.
Powers did not reply to requests for comment.
Gov. Cuomo’s office refused to comment on the article, or on the $82,122 annual salary the state of New York pays Powers. The office said criticism should be directed to the college.
The college responded by called the writings “distasteful and hurtful”. They said, however, that Powers would not be disciplined. “The points of view expressed were those of Dr. Powers alone and are protected under his right to free speech,” SUNY College said in a statement. “He remains a member of our faculty. Dr. Powers has been advised that he does not speak, nor should he suggest at any time, that he is speaking for the college.”
I’m disgusted that a racist scumbag like this is allowed to not be punished for his comments, citing free speach by the university, when humans are constantly being punished and terminated by their jobs because of a simple post on social media because of blacks being outraged. This country is at it’s lowest point in history.
