Patrol Borough of Staten Island, under the able leadership of NYPD Chief Kenneth Corey, the venerable Commanding Officer and Police Commander of Staten Island, held its annual Harmony Day event at Clove Lakes Park located in the Sunnyside section of Staten Island.

Mendy Mirocznik, COJO-SI president and Ari Weiss, COJO-SI Security Committee chairman and coordinator of the Staten Island Shomrim, represented the Staten Island COJO at the Harmony Day Event.

Mirocznik stated, “that COJO-SI as a proud community partner with the NYPD and is proud of Chief Kenneth Corey and his able officers who besides upholding the law and securing public safety are constantly engaging the entire gamut of community groups and organizations comprising Staten Island in building strong lines of communication and trust in law enforcement.  It is this foundation of trust that is preventing and curbing crime and creating public confidence and support for law enforcement. The Staten Island Council of Jewish Organizations, is proud to be a partner in these important public safety initiatives and we have only positive feedback from our member organizations, constituents and friends that Chief Corey’s objective is successful and we can attribute the decreases in crime and increase in safety thanks to these efforts.”

Chief Corey thanked COJO-SI, “for its rock-solid support. It is thanks to community partners such as COJO-SI that we are able to police as effectively as we are.  COJO-SI is appreciative of our efforts in broadening communication and interacting with the diverse communities that we have the honor and privilege to serve.  I thank Mendy Mirocznik, Scott Maurer and Ari Weiss for their exemplary leadership,” Chief Corey continued that, “while crime may be decreasing, I will not be satisfied unless we can completely eradicate crime.  Sadly, that is a wish, but realistically speaking we will continue to build on our accomplishments with the lofty goal of the complete eradication of crime.  If we keep the bar that high, we will continue to be successful in improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers.”
