‘Billionaires Summer Camp’ in Idaho Attracts Bezos, Gates, Iger & More

Feel like clinking glasses with and passing the potato salad to Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Tim Cook and Bob Iger?

If so, simply head to Idaho for Allen & Co.’s annual soiree in Sun Valley, which has been called a “billionaires summer camp.”

Notables attending the event also include, according to the New York Post, “IAC’s Barry Diller and his wife, designer Diane Von Furstenberg; CBS’ Gayle King; former Dreamworks boss and Quibi CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg; and Imagine Entertainment co-founder Brian Grazer. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings and Chief Creative Officer Ted Sarandos will be sitting this year out due to scheduling conflicts, according to a company spokesman.

“From the sports world, attendees include NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Patriots owner Bob Kraft, a longtime regular, will be sitting out this year’s Sun Valley in the wake of allegations he solicited prostitution at a Florida massage parlor. Kraft has denied the allegations,” the Post added.

Allen & Company is a private investment firm formed in 1922, with headquarters in New York City and London. It has advised, helped found, and/or invested in companies including BET, InterActiveCorp, Oxygen Media, Discovery Communications, News Corporation, the Coca-Cola Corporation and Google.

The Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference is an annual media finance conference hosted and wholly independently funded by the private investment firm. The conference has taken place in Sun Valley, Idaho for one week each July since 1983. The gathering typically includes major political figures, business leaders, and figures in the philanthropic and cultural spheres.

The A-list attendees of previous years reads like a Who’s Who, and included Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren and Susan Buffett, Tony Blair, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Allen alumnus and former Philippine Senator Mar Roxas, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, Quicken Loans Founder & Chairman Dan Gilbert, Yahoo! co-founder Jerry Yang, financer George Soros, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch, eBay CEO Meg Whitman, BET founder Robert Johnson, Time Warner Chairman Richard Parsons, Nike founder and chairman Phil Knight, Dell founder and CEO Michael Dell, NBA player LeBron James, Professor and Entrepreneur Sebastian Thrun, Governor Chris Christie, entertainer Dan Chandler, Katharine Graham of The Washington Post, Diane Sawyer, InterActiveCorp Chairman Barry Diller, Linkedin co-founder Reid Hoffman, entrepreneur Wences Casares, EXOR and FCA Chairman John Elkann, Sandro Salsano from Salsano Group, and Washington Post CEO Donald E.
