On Sunday, April 14, 2019, the NYPD’s Shomrim Society once again assembled in the Community Room of the Grand Street Coops to prepare and distribute Passover food packages to members of the Jewish Community.  This annual Lower East Side event attracts top brass of the NYPD, as well as community leaders, who return to the cradle and mother neighborhood of New York City’s Jewish Community to preform the great Mitzva of ensuring that all members of the Jewish faith will be able to enjoy the Passover Holiday.

Among the great NYPD Shomrim executives in attendance were President Spencer Strauss, 1st Vice President Gary Marcus, Assistant Sergeant at Arms Josh Zuker, Marshal Philip Weisbord, NYPD Chief Chaplain Rabbi Dr. Alvin Kass, Financial Secretary Murray Ellman, Executive Secretary Stuart Portner, Recipient Coordinator Marcia Portner, and Scott Pomerantz, president National Conference of Shomrim Societies, and president Port Authority NY/NJ Shomrim Society and Boy Scout Troop 76 leader.

Rabbi Leonard (Yehuda) Blank, director of Chaplaincy Commission and External Affairs, Rabbinical Alliance of America, and Rabbi Mendy Mirocznik, executive vice-president, Rabbinical Alliance of America also participated in the Pre-Passover food distribution.

The nicest part of the day was the hard work of the energetic youngsters of Boy Scout Troop 76 and students from Yeshiva of Flatbush who worked hand in hand and tirelessly with Shomrim members to pull off another successful Passover food distribution.
