April 10, 2019 – The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC-NY) celebrated its 2019 Gala Dinner at The Pierre Hotel on April 9th and presented NYS Attorney General Letitia James with its Public Service Award. JCRC-NY commended the Attorney General for her dedication to New York State, New York City, the community and civic affairs and for her passionate commitment to combatting hate crimes and anti-Semitism. JCRC-NY President Charles S. Temel received the JCRC-NY Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding communal leadership and dedication to the well-being of the Jewish people.
The Gala was emceed by JCRC-NY Board Members Jennifer Falk and Marc Wolf. Also participating in the program were Ambassador Dani Dayan, Consul General of Israel inNew York; Jeffrey Schoenfeld, UJA-Federation of NY President; JCRC-NY Past President Ronald Weiner, who presented the award to Mr. Temel after a touching tribute by his children, Erica, Laura and Dan Temel; John Catsimatidis, Chairman and CEO of the Red Apple Group, who presented the award to Attorney General Tisch; Richard Janvey, JCRC-NY Board Member, who recited the motzi; and Michael Miller, JCRC-NY Executive Vice President and CEO. Guests included Anne-Claire Legendre, Consul General of France in NY; NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, Former Mayor David Dinkins; NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer; Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, NYC Council Members Chaim Deutsch, Rafael Espinal, Vanessa Gibson, Ben Kallos, Andy King, Brad Lander, Francisco Moya, Helen Rosenthal, Paul Vallone, and Kalman Yeger; former NYS Senator Manfred Ohrenstein; and Rev. Jacques DeGraff.
